Calling all Drupalians...

Almost a week ago, Dries Buytaert announced the release of Drupal 8 Beta 1. As one of the world's most popular content management systems, it aims to improve on its excellent features with greater use of responsive web design.

Released for testing and feedback, Drupal is calling on all its contributors to identify bugs, to review patches, and create patches. At present, there is 97 critical issues remaining. Once the 97 critical issues have been solved, Drupal 8 will be ready for general release.

So far, over 2,300 people have contributed more than 11,500 committed patches to fifteen alpha releases. With the way things are going, Drupal 8 could be gift-wrapped in time for Christmas. We shall see.
