How a typesetting company broke the mould with a niche content management system.

Only one company could claim to be the middle ground between traditional typesetting and online publishing. Its technology helped to break the print unions whilst implemented at News International's Wapping plant in January 1986. One of its members of staff left to form Aldus and create PageMaker, the first most affordable Desk-Top-Publishing program, a precursor to Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign. Today, it remains a notable player in the field of advertising and niche market content management systems.  From 2008 to 2014, it was known as Atex Polopoly when it acquired Swedish web developers Polopoly. It is now owned by Europe wide investors. In 2011, they moved their Head Office to Reading, Berkshire. Today, just Atex with the Atex Polopoly CMS now known as Atex Web CMS.

The Atex Web CMS has its roots in the early days of computerised typesetting and their Swedish acquisition in 2008. It offers a truly multi-channel experience with facilities for text mining and paywalls. There is two types of CMS products: Web CMS, which is their standard content management system; and Editorial CMS. The latter is geared towards broadcasters, and newspaper and magazine publishers, creating a multi-channel newsroom. It is able to cope with the strict deadlines, helps maintain the highest journalistic standards and effectively combines all roles from editors to graphic artists and photographers.

Through ethical SEO techniques and high quality content - just as much of an issue with search engines as well as loyal newspaper readers.
